Zapatero - Turkish PM's Dhimmi Ally

Andrea Sentore hasn't even been buried yet, and his dhimmi brother in Christ, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, is already shaking hands with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister of Turkey and the leader of the Islamist AKP party.

Erdogan - Zapatero: Let's Stop Hatred

Leaders of the "Union of Civilizations", [Turkish] Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, condemned the Muhammad cartoons in a joined open letter published in International Herald Tribune.

The two prime ministers called the cartoons unacceptable "from the ethical and political points of view" and stressed the necessity to "to stop hatred". Erdogan and Zapatero said that "publication of these cartoons could be absolutely legitimate but has to be rejected for ethical and political reasons" and emphasized the need to decrease the tension.

Not to Be Inattentive to Sensitive Issues

While the two prime ministers acknowledged that the freedom of expression is one of the main pillars of the democratic system, they also noted that where there are rights, there are duties as well, and one can not remain inattentive to sensitive issues.

The two prime ministers warned that "forgetting this could bring about insecurity, exclusion and anger, and all this could lead to results which none of us would like to see and which is our duty to prevent".

"Union of Civilizations" Could be a Model

In the letter, which was reprinted by the Spanish press, Erdogan and Zapatero stressed the need for measures to be taken to stop "the hatred which is being a threat to the international peace and security" and offered the "Union of Civilizations" model they launched together last year.

And again - no mention of the yesterday's murder and no apology. It's just amazing how quick the Islamists are in finding allies in Europe, and how quick Europe is in betraying its own values and its co-religionists in Muslim lands. Some answers to the many questions that arise after seeing such things happen can be found in "Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis" by Bat Yeor.

Italian Priest Killed in Turkey - No Apology from Turkish Prime Minister

Andrea Santore, an Italian Catholic priest, was shot to death today in Trabzon, Turkey. According to preliminary investigation results, the assailant was a 13-14 year old Turkish boy. The police are still reluctant to talk about the murderer's motives, even though everyone else, including the Church officials back in Italy, is pretty sure than this killing is a part of the world-wide wave of protests against the Danish cartoons. Let's see now what the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayip Erdogan has to say concerning this incident:

"Turkey is beginning to unite civilisations. One crazy cartoonist comes up and attacks my Prophet. He has no right to do this".

Sabah, 05/02/2005

These are Erdogan's very first words after the attack. After that, he goes on to say that "this wrong [the cartoons] has to be righted, but not by demolishing and burning down". That's all. No apology to the Church or to Italy or to the priest's relatives. Quite the opposite - Erdogan is quick to blame (as is customary for Muslims) some mysterios enemy by saying: "Weapons are no solution. It is the wish of those whose aim is the clash of civilisations". Later, in the same speech, he makes some obscure remarks about the PKK and also says a word about the need to educate the young in some other sort of religion. However, he fails to express his sympathy to the family of the victim or to the Christian community. Erdogan does not say a single word in appreciation of the service that Andrea Santore had been rendering to the Christian community of Trabzon for the last 5 years. The Prime Minister of Turkey, democratically elected three years ago by the Turkish people, is obviously less civilised than Sultan Abdul Mejid who built that church in Trabzon more than hundred years ago.
